News: $45 in prizes! Come be clever with GUD!

[edited to be clearer] -- We're trying something new with our advertising budget--giving a little of it away to the people who participate on the site.  $30 first place, $10 second, and $5 third--payable by Paypal or Amazon gift certificate.

Here's what to do:
  • go to
  • read through the teasers
  • look for any amusing teaser/context ad pairings
  • come back to this post, and leave a comment with the title of the piece and the text of the ad; and if you're feeling adventurous, why you thought it was amusing, ironic, interesting, or just plain odd.
Enter as many times as you like.  Entries will be accepted through the end of April.  GUD's editors will decide their favorites; and if we're hard pressed to decide on a final three, we may open our shortlist to a public vote.  Note that you must create an account to leave a comment, but there's no cost to creating an account and no need for you to sign up for our spamlist.  The first person to post any given ad for an entry gets credit for it; note that there may be a lag in comments posting to the site.

As an example: say the teaser was talking about coffee; and on that same page there was an ad for a coffee machine.  Or even better, caffeine patches to help quit your addiction; or even better, why coffee is sinful; or even better, offering you a vacation cruise to Java.  ((or, you know, something like that))

"Dialogue with the Hollows of Your Body"
Ad text: "Love Gossip"
(what would you discuss with your body?)

"Songs of the Dead"
Ad text: "16,500 miles. No engine."
(well... need I comment on this one?)

"The Eternal's Last Request"
Ad text: "Yellow door"
(a cunning plan, or the nonsensical last mutterings of a doomed entity?)

That was fun, if a mite time consuming. Might come back later and do some more.

I played that chicken game (Chicken Invaders 2). It was fun :) Though I don't think it was worth installing realArcade for. Still, it gave me some ideas for the asteroid game I'm working on. Enjoying the entries so far!
