About how much time between issues 5 and 6?

That's an amazing amount of slush. Wow. I am so not jealous.

Well, I was interested because issue 5 had 3296 subs, and 6 had 1726. I wondered if the submissions window was open longer for issue 5, and if that was why there were so many more. Sorry, I see numbers and immediately want to figure out the reasoning for them. :P

Issue 5 somewhat overran its slush slot (try saying that a few times fast!) and a lot of what will appear in 6 was actually culled from slush that came in for 5. So, yes, 6 had a shorter open window as it was filled very quickly. We have been obliged to close to submissions at times because we think it unfair to continue slushing when an issue is full.

The bit that says "admins only", that's us. ;)

But still, people don't know to look there, necessarily, and we took it out of the main menu (it's only linked from the submissions page).

I _really_ need to work on the "user" menu some. And the user pages. They're messy... :/

My mind is often boggled by the amount of submissions to any one magazine. I simply can't imagine what it would be like to work as an editor and have to sift through it all.

Yet, when you think about how many stories are in the slush, it makes an acceptance all the sweeter. All the literary magazine editors out there: I wouldn't want your job, but I salute you all the same.

Thank you. :) Some days we don't want our jobs, either, but we like to believe the product is worth it. =)
