News: Full steam ahead!

Wednesday, August 30, 2006

We don't mean to be so quiet, but a lot of things are happening that just aren't so immediately visible.  We've taken on a wondrous copy editor who is slaving away at all of the items accepted so far.  We're going over the contracts with a fine-toothed comb before sending out our first one, and we've picked out an online system that will allow e-signatures with full federal and to a reasonable extent international compliance.  We're still waiting for a number of artists/authors to send us their details so that we can send them a contract, but all these things are interlinked.

We've received our ISSN, and we've got our BIPAD--we've got a UPC, and we're going to be making postcards to promote the magazine.  We're rationing our advertising budget, but have two small campaigns earmarked so far (one print ad, one website).

Everyone is still incredibly excited, and we hope you are too.  Chances are pre-orders aren't going to be up until October 1st, and it could be a bit after that to finalize all the necessary paperwork.  It's funny how going the "safe" route can wind up penalizing you by a month.   We're being very careful with every aspect of the business, trying to make sure every cross has a corresponding t, and such.

And of course, we're considering carefully all the submissions still pouring in for the next issue.  It's magical.

Thanks! It's an incredibly exciting process. I do look forward to it being smoother next issue, though.

Cheers! I'm looking forward to seeing GUD up and running! And as far as going the safe route--the extra month is definitely worth it. :-)
